I’ve enjoyed judging some fairly illustrious type design contests with some great people, as well as numerous more humble events, portfolio reviews and the like. It’s an incredible opportunity to exchange opinions with colleagues about the submitted work as well as get a take on the state of the art.

TDC2 2002

I have also been on numerous committees and panels that have awarded things like SOTA’s Typography Award to Matthew Carter in 2005, and SOTA’s Catalyst Award to a promising young designer under 25, Krista Radoveva from Bulgariain 2014. And I have helped select local graphic design, marketing and advertising award winners here in Kansas City.
